Gray clouds, obeying the will of the autumn wind,
Float from north to south.
Entangle the slopes of the Eternal Mountain,
And, thinking of nothing, watch from its summit.
Trying not to collide with the clouds,
Lined up like the tip of a giant arrow.
Calling to each other with concern,
So that those who are exhausted
Do not fall behind.
You fly away to the south, cranes,
Saying goodbye to us, flapping your wings.
At times your voices, like a weeping zurna,
Cause sadness in the heart.
You have your home under your wing
My fate is not like yours.
Today I am under the wing of my home,
But why do I still remember
All the suffering I have endured.
Who knows how many of you
Will not return to your native mountains
In the Spring.
And how many of us, when you return,
Will only be happy for the living, leaving (life).
